Monarch & Sand Railroad Sets Golden Block

With the recent placement of the “golden block”, we are pleased to announce another new garden railroad has entered into regular service on the central California coast. Will Kastner and Lucinda Eileen will host the CCCGRS July open house, affording our group inaugural views of The Monarch & Sand Railroad. A unique roadbed has been employed to traverse the ancient beach sand on site.

Humble beginnings. With the vision of a large radius curve defined with nothing more than green paint, the first block of roadbed is placed (W. Kastner, image).
Progress . The same curve now showing significantly more roadbed installed. Careful planning, placement and alignment will increase reliable operation on the line into the future (W. Kastner, image).
Strong foundation. With the roadbed nearly complete, placement of track begins while plantings take hold (W. Kastner, image).
