Sneek Peak: The Conejo And Tortuga Railroad

Long time CCCGRS members, Bernie and Vicki Meister, were excited about hosting their first garden railroad open house for our group in April 2020. Unfortunately “Safer At Home” conditions required they post-pone the event until a later date.

The layout is a 97.2 foot loop with three 25 foot spurs. The Conejo and Tortuga Railroad is currently the only CCCGRS member layout that features a working turntable. Bernie scratch-built this hand operated feature using Trex composite lumber.

Although Bernie says the layout is a “work in progress”, we cannot wait to see it in person during a rescheduled event! In the meantime, Bernie and Vicki invite you to take a ride on this Paso Robles garden railroad passing through the fictional town “Dirt” named after the town in the movie “Rango.”

Bernie Meister stands outside his custom-built railroad depot adjacent to his Paso Robles garden railroad.
